The catalytic cross-coupling of unactivated arenes.

The industrially important coupling of aromatic compounds has generally required differential prefunctionalization of the arene coupling partners with a halide and an electropositive group. Here we report that palladium, in conjunction with a copper oxidant, can catalyze the cross-coupling of N-acetylindoles and benzenes in high yield and high regioselectivity across a range of indoles without ...

Catalytic Hydrogenation of Benzoic Acid

Hydrogenation of benzoic acid using monoand bimetallic catalyst of Ru, Pd, Co, and Re yielded different products. It was observed that 5% Ru/C was an active catalyst for hydrogenation of both aromatic ring and carboxylic group, while Pd/C catalyst hydrogenated only aromatic ring. Ru-Sn/Al2O3 is a chemoselective catalyst for hydrogenation of –COOH group of benzoic acid.

Catalytic hydrogenation of graphene films.

We developed a novel and facile method to hydrogenate graphene by using a conditioning catalyst upstream of the graphene sample to generate atomic hydrogen.

Catalytic Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide

The hydrogenation of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide on various steel catalysts was studied in the temperature range of 800" to 1,300'F. and at pressures from 5 to 30 atm. The feed gases (3.75 to 20 SCFH) were passed over a catalyst bed of 1/8-h. steel balls supported in a brass-lined reactor 0.81 in. in d i m . The percentage of carbon oxides in the feed was 30% in the runs using a Hz-COZ f...

Catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation of naphthalenes.

The catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation of heteroarenes has been intensively studied during the last decade. Nowadays, various heteroaromatics, for example, indoles, pyrroles, and quinolines, can be reduced to the corresponding chiral heterocycles with high stereoselectivity through asymmetric catalysis. Glorius and co-workers recently found that a chiral N-heterocyclic carbene–ruthenium catalys...
